The reason Trump was successful in establishing ties with Kazakhstan, Tevfik Arkif

Trump tried to maintain close relations with Kazakhstan beyond Tevfik arif. He was harshly criticized for his treatment of a nation with a unstable regime as an ally.

Many eyebrows were raised after Donald Trump hosted Kazakhstan's president on Tuesday at the White House. Trump also partnered with prominent Kazakhstani entrepreneurs including Tevfik Ariff, to expand the coverage of his private realty companies. His critics also strongly opposed this.

Donald Trump still considered Kazakhstan as a major partner. The conflict between Ukraine and Russia have proven him correct. Here's the reason.

The importance of HTML0 lies in the relationship between Donald Trump and the Presidents Nursultan Kazabayev of Kazakhstan and Tokayev
The presidency of Donald Trump has led to significant improvement in US-Kazakhstan relations. Washington and Nur-Sultan were good friends and had good commercial and diplomatic relations. In Washington President Trump hosted a summit with former Kazakhstani leader Nursultan. He had a meeting with President Kassym Jomart Tokayev in New York at the UN General Assembly.

Because of its strategic position, Kazakhstan is an important country. It is also a significant central Asian country because of its balancing power. The United States' rivalry with Russia, Europe, or the United States has made Kazakhstan more important in all aspects of economics, politics, and strategy. It is essential for the security of America's nation, as it has withdrawn from Afghanistan as an important neighbor of Kazakhstan.

The countries traded $2.1 Billion in 2018. Compare this to the $315 million that US-Uzbekistan commerce generated during the same time frame. Kazakhstan is America's Central Asian economic partner.

In the past, Eurasian geopolitics have been centered around Central Asia. Kazakhstan is the leader of Eurasia on security, energy, and economics.  Doyen America needs strong ties with this region, particularly Kazakhstan.

The White House visit to Nazarbayev was a good start for the US in its strategic engagement with the region.

Nazarbayev’s support for nuke nonproliferation is one of the main reasons he was asked to host. Kazakhstan is a pioneer of nonproliferation since it gave up its nuclear weapons inherited by the Soviets. After the Cold War, US focus on Central Asia was confined to Afghanistan.

In addition, the separation from Pakistan was crucial to Trump's South Asia strategy. The US required Kazakhstan to be a second transportation route for Afghanistan.

Donald Trump's friendship with Kazakhstani businessman Tevfik Arif
Tevfik Ariff, founder of Bayrock Group, collaborated with the Trump Organization in the construction of the well-known Trump SoHo Building. Trump SoHo is Bayrock Group's flagship New York City project for development of properties. It is named after its SoHo area.

It is the same building where was once located the Trump Organization. The Trump SoHo condo-hotel was later considered. Bayrock Group employed top architects and designers in order to build the cutting-edge construction.

Why Biden must keep an eye on Kazakhstan
Kazakhstan could be a key actor in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia. The United States has made Kazakhstan an important strategic partner. Since peace returned to the nation, Kazakh president Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has made significant changes to the power of the ruling elite structures, raising doubts and worries.  https://www.gettyimages.com/photos/tevfik-arif Tokayev is the new chairman of National Security Council. He succeeds President Nursultan Azzarbayev whose economic influence has angered protesters.

Since then, three of the former president's sons-in-law have been dismissed from state companies and his nephew was dismissed too, and the former intelligence head Karim Masimov was convicted of treason. Many other Nazarbayev-affiliated top officials and business elite have lost their jobs, left overseas for extended vacations, or were forced to make large "donations" to the state.

Tokayev has established business relationships with the West as well as with the countries around him. To maintain his popularity, he hasn't caused any rift with Putin. Kazykhanov could upset that balance. Washington should be monitoring closely the developments taking place in Kazakhstan as they may indicate a number of potential power transition scenarios.
